What is Kava?
Kava is a depressant drug, which means it slows down the messages traveling between the brain and the body. Kava is made from the root or stump of the kava (Piper methysticum) shrub.
How is it used?
Traditionally, Pacific Islanders crushed, chewed and ground the root and stump of the shrub, then soaked it in cold water to produce a drink for ceremonies and cultural practices. These rituals were said to strengthen ties among groups, reaffirm status and help people communicate with spirits.
Our kava is micronized and can be mixed with anything instantly

Tonga is a country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. Called the Friendly Islands, Tonga is an archipelago consisting of some 170 islands. People inhabit only 36 of them. Volcanic undersea mountains form the two chains of the Tongan islands. Several of the islands are still active volcanoes, which makes their soil rich and unique.
While many drink kava daily throughout the Tongan villages, it is served for many reasons. Reasons include marriages, coronations of leaders, and funerals. Kava holds a special place in Tongan culture. Drinking kava in Tonga is compared to men in the United States drinking beer at a bar.
